Research Lines 

Summary  

Úrsula Bravo is an Associate Professor at the Universidad del Desarrollo School of Design and the Editor-in-Chief of the open-access journal Base Diseño e Innovación. 

 
She holds a PhD in Education, a Master’s degree in Education, a Master’s degree in Humanities, and a Bachelor’s degree in Design, as well as studies in Art Theory and Art History. She was a fellow of the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development. Co-founder of Design Literacy International Network and member of the Design Research Society. 

For two decades, she has been interested in exploring the relations between design, visuality and education: first designing school textbooks in Chile and Spain and later advising the Ministry of Education in evaluating the textbooks that the State delivers to public and subsidised schools in the country. In 2016, she led the project Introducing Design Thinking to Chilean schools, funded by the British Council. In her doctoral thesis, she seeks to understand classroom teacher management of visual resources.
